We've been getting a lot of lightning today. Because I have to unplug all the computer equipment every time this happens, I was wondering whether there was a website out there I could use to see where the lightning is happening.
Sure enough, my favorite weather site, Weather Underground, has this feature. You have to use the Radar Controls below the image and if you want a moving map, you have to select Storm Tracks and Animation at the top of the radar image.
Then there is a legend just beneath the radar showing how to decipher the box sizes, so you can tell when the lightening happened and where.
Now I can see which way the storms are going, and whether there's lightning involved. If it's not too close and seems to be heading in a direction other than my house, I probably won't bother disconneting everything.
